Who, or what was Satan in the beginning?  People have long been taught that he was a beautiful, holy angel which stood before God, and he was supposedly the most beautiful angel that ever was. We were all taught that all went well in heaven until one day he began to believe that he was more beautiful and/or better that God. He became exalted! Then we are told that God went into battle with him and threw old Satan right out of heaven. By their teaching they seemed to imply that God was having problems ruling his kingdom because of pride and rebellion. This one thing is for sure. God has never had a hard time ruling heaven. He always met Satan on his own ground and on Satan's terms and was victorious after each encounter. You may say look at Calvary and look at what Satan did to Christ. Friend, Satan did not have Jesus crucified, GOD DID.

Satan in the garden was not a reptile. A reptile is a snake. He was a beast of the field.( Gen. 3:1) You must know that God made everything that was made. God made all things, both good and evil. Isaiah 45:7 reads, "I form the light, and I create darkness: I make peace and create evil: I the Lord do all these things." Can you deny the Word of the Lord? Does God lie? Certainly not!

Numbers 23:19 says," God is not a man that he should lie; neither the son of man that he should repent; hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?" In Titus 1:2," In hope of eternal life, which God that cannot lie promised before the world the world began;" Since God cannot lie, it stands to reason that God made both good and evil. Look at it this way. God made the heavenly beings, but he also created Satan, who was in the heaven, for at this time there was no earth. When God made the garden of Eden, He placed the tree of life in the midst of the garden of Eden. He also placed the serpent in the midst of the garden of Eden.

Isaiah 54:16," Behold I have created the smith that bloweth the coals in the fire, and that bringeth forth an instrument for his work; I have created the waster to destroy." Destroy what is my question?

Since God cannot lie, he said that he ( God) created the waster( Satan) to destroy. Satan is evil and God was the one who created him. Impossible you say?  Well, if there was nothing made except God made it, then where did Satan come from?  God made both good and evil. God made the devil.  If in the beginning there was nothing but God, everything that exist had to come from God. God created the smith that blew upon the coals that was to bring forth an instrument for his work. In other words, the one that makes it so hot upon you was created by God. He was created to try to test you in order to make you a vessel that God could use. The waster was created to destroy. St. John 10:10," The thief cometh not, but for to steal, kill, and to destroy;...." This thief is Satan, who comes to destroy. Jesus came to give life. The same life that Adam lost in the garden.

In Genesis 3:1 the scripture teaches us that it was not a spirit that deceived Eve, but it was the serpent, who was more subtil than any of the beast of the field. In the beginning Satan was known as the beast of the field, not a reptile. God created him as such and his purpose was revealed in Isaiah 54:16. How do we prove that serpent in Genesis 3:1 was actually the devil ? Rev. 12:9 says," And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent called the devil, and Satan, which deceived the whole world, he was cast out into the earth, and his angels with him. In Rev. 12:3-4, he is called a dragon. In Rev. 12:15 and Gen. 3:1, he is called the serpent.

The garden of Eden was a paradise and it was the heavenly realm where God dwelt. In the garden of Eden, there was 1. God 2. Eve 3. Adam 4. the serpent.  After the transgression, God cast out Adam, Eve, and the serpent.( Read Rev. 12:9) When Satan was cast out of the garden of Eden, he ceased to be a beast of the field, and he became a spirit with a body. He is the missing link that scientist cannot find. He then began to take up his abode in earthly, bodies ( men). He was to eat the dust of the earth of the earth all the days of his life. We are from the dust of the earth and Satan has attacked the flesh of man ever since he was cast out of the garden of Eden. He has attacked our minds, for he knew this is where God is to rule man. And over the years we have allowed Satan to rule the thoughts of our minds. 1 Cor. 2:14, " But the natural man receiveth not the things of God; for they are foolishness unto him; neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. So in order to receive of God we must walk by the spirit of the Lord, not to yield to the satanic mind the destroyer comes to destroy us with.

To attempt to show you that Satan became a spirit being. In Job 2:2, " and the Lord said unto Satan, from whence comest thou? And Satan answered the Lord and said from going to and fro "in" the earth, and from walking up and down in it."  I want to take you back a few moments to the time that God removed Adam, Eve and the Serpent from the garden of Eden, especially the serpent. Earlier we said that God had cast the serpent out of the garden to eat the dust of the earth. We must understand that the serpent was not a copperhead snake, or a rattlesnake, but a serpent, a beast of the field. You should know by now that Eve did not sin by eating an apple. What Eve did was to learn how to reproduce by the act of sex. Since the serpent was a beast of the field, there was a male and a female. Eve watched the serpents as they had sex, and she" learned "that when they did, it produced a baby in the likeness of the beast of the field. Knowledge is something that you learn in your mind, not something you eat.

When she gained this knowledge from the serpent she took it to Adam, he yielded to her and they had sex, and Cain was the result.  All Adam had to do to reproduce was to speak the Word, for he was in the image and the likeness of God. He was a son of God.

When it came time for their judgements, God stripped the body from the serpent and he became the prince of the power of the air, and started to looking for him a body to dwell in. The serpent was the nearest thing to a man that there was without there being another man. Adam was the closest thing to God there was without there being another God. So God took his body away and he became a spirit without a body. Scientist has tried for years to find the missing link in the chain of life and they cannot find it. The reason they can't find it is because God did away with it at the garden of Eden. His body was done away with, and from that time forward he was nothing but a spirit that went to and fro through the earth to find him a vessel he could live in.

Whenever the sons of God stood before the Lord, Satan came and stood there also and tried to get God to accept him as a son of God. In St. John 13:27 we find that the same night that Jesus was betrayed, Satan entered into Judas. This is the same serpent that came to Eve as a beast and now he has came and entered into Judas. He is no longer a beast of the field, but is the prince of the power of the air( Eph. 2:2) and has entered into Judas. In St. John 14:30 Jesus says," Hereafter I will not talk much with you; for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me". Satan, Devil, Dragon, Serpent referred to as the prince of this world has no place to enter into Jesus.

Since we are trying to find out what Satan was in the beginning, we need to know what the beginning was. What does all of what we have written have to do with Lucifer?  If we are to find out who Lucifer was, we will have to look at what was in the beginning. The beginning simply stated was the beginning of something. Satan was created a serpent in the beginning with a body and was placed in the garden of Eden.  He was placed there for the purpose of testing Eve. He was not a man who was to have sex with Eve, and to reproduce after his own kind. Serpents reproduced serpents and human beings reproduced human beings. Satan was not a holy angel that exalted himself above God, HE WAS A SERPENT from the beginning. To prove this point let us look at St. John 8:44, "ye are of your father the devil, and the lust of your father will ye do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own; for he is a liar, and the father of it". Jesus told us here that the devil, who is Satan, who is the serpent was a liar from the beginning, not a holy angel.  He was created a devil, to be a devil, to do the work of the devil, from the very beginning.

1 John 3:8, "He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning; For this purpose was the Son of God manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. He sinned from the beginning?  This don't sound like those things I heard about him being a holy righteous angel from the beginning.  Is it possible that the preachers has had it all wrong? Also Isaiah says that he was created a waster to destroy. One thing is for sure! The only thing that he was to destroy would be his own self. He was created to be what he was, a waster. The way that we have been taught is that he was a holy angel that almost fooled God or that God had his hands full trying to control this pretty angel. This is the fartherest thing from the truth. God didn't have his hands full. He created Satan and Satan couldn't do a thing without the express permission of God.

Years ago I heard a sermon by the late A. A. Allen called Lucifer. In this sermon you can hear bro. Allen ask him what his name was. The answer was ," My name is Lucifer". We all jumped on the wagon and started preaching that Lucifer was Satan. When God opened this message up to me, the one thing that troubled me was this sermon. But God did not fail and He gave me the answer. Satan is a liar and has been so from the beginning. He was lying when he said his name was Lucifer. Why would he lie to the man of God? For the simple reason that he wanted everyone to believe that he was Lucifer, the morning star. He wanted to be known as an angel of light. Lucifer must have been something special for Satan to try to use his name. He was!!! Lucifer was a son of God. He was a real genuine son of God.

Adam, according to St. Luke 3:38, was a son of God. This is not hard to figure out since God created him in the beginning, a spirit. Eve came from the man Adam's side. Cain and Abel were the sons of Adam. One was born through disobedience and the other was born by commandment from God. Adams Father was God, making Adam a son of God. In Genesis 1:27 we read where God wanted man to be made in his image and in his likeness. God created this one, who was neither male or female, bond nor free, Jew nor Greek, to be a son of God. This spiritual man was perfect. How could he not be perfect if he was to be in the image of God. Adam did not sin first, Eve did!!

As long as Adam was a spiritual man he could not sin. As a matter of fact he did not sin until Eve was taken from him and there was two people in the garden. At no time was Adam deceived, but it was Eve, Adams flesh that was deceived in the transgression. 1 Tim. 2:14," And Adam was not deceived in the transgression; but the woman being deceived was in the transgression".    Satan could not come to Adam and see him fall, therefore he worked on the thing that was the closest to Adam, which was his own flesh. Adam was a son of the spirit. Eve was a type of the church. The church system today is the one that is being deceived, not the sons of God.

Ezekiel 28:11-19," Moreover the word of the Lord came unto me saying; Son of man, take up a lamentation upon the king of Tyrus, and say unto him, thus saith the Lord God; thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty. Thou hast been in Eden, the garden of God' every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the saphire and the emerald, and the carbuncle and the gold. The workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in the in the day that thou wast created. Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so; thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee. By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned; therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of god; and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire. Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness; I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee. Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffic; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the middle of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee. All they that know thee among the people shall be astonished at thee; thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt thou be any more."

These verses are supposed to teach that Satan was the anointed cherub that covereth. But these verses don't refer to Satan at all This individual mentioned is the one who was perfect in the day he was created. The king of Tyrus was Adam. This king of Tyrus was a man in the day he was created. He was perfect in his creation, till sin was found in him. His covering was all manner of precious stones. Dust is ground up stone, so all the precious stones was what Adam was formed from. If you remember, the message of the serpent was that you can be like God if you do these things. It was Adam via Eve that exalted himself above God and it was Adam that wanted to be like God. It could not have been Lucifer here that was the anointed cherub, for he was created a devil and a liar from the beginning. He could not have fallen from grace because of sin, for he was a sinner from the start. Therefore he could not have been a holy angel in the beginning. Adam was the perfect one. Eve was the one who ate of the tree of knowledge and went to the perfect one with it.

Isaiah 14:12-17," How thou art fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of morning! how thou art cut to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north; I will ascend up above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the most high.( Read Gen. 3:5) Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit. They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee saying, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake the kingdoms? That made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof; that opened not the house of his prisoners?

Here is the only time that Lucifer's name is mentioned in the Bible. The name Lucifer means day star. He was called here the son of morning. Both phrases means that this Lucifer was a child of the light. Not only was he a child of the light, he was a man. Adam was the only man, son of God,( light) that was in the beginning. The serpent was not a man, he was a beast of the field. The second day preachers teach that this Lucifer was Satan. Satan was a beast, not a man. The serpent was not created a perfect man, he was a liar from the beginning. This individual  here in Isaiah was not Satan.  It was Adam that caused the nations to fall. He was created a body of light in the image of God. When he partook of the tree of knowledge to know both good and evil, he fell into darkness. He caused the nations to be weakened. Lucifer was a son of light. St. John 1::5, "In him was life, and the life was the light of men". This Lucifer was cast out of heaven. Where was Adam cast out of? Paradise? Paul said in Acts that he was caught up into the third heaven, which was paradise, and heard words that was lawful for man to utter.

Then if Satan was Lucifer, he was not cast out of a place beyond the milky way called heaven, but was cast out of the garden of Eden, called Paradise. the garden of Eden was Heaven, for God dwelt there. Once Adam left the garden he was no longer able to hear the voice of God as in the past. The communion or fellowship was broken and would remain so until Christ came. Was Satan cut down to the ground? Absolutely not. Adam was living in a heavenly realm in the garden and because he thought he was above , or equal to God, he was cast down to a low, carnal, realm of the flesh. There is nothing any lower that the carnal state of a man. Lucifer, who was Adam, was cut down. All that happened to the serpent was that he lost his body. In closing, let me say this one more time. Satan, in the beginning was a beast of the field, a liar, a murderer, created by god to bring forth an instrument for God's work. He was never a man. It was Adam who listened to Eve, the woman, his flesh, and partook of the knowledge to know both good and evil. It was Adam who fell from the grace of God.
